For as long as I could remember I had been a Home Decor obsessed, DIY'ing, HGTV watching fanatic. But those would hardly qualify as pre-requisites to a interior design career. Right? I was running my mobile Spa/Salon business when it all started. A client asked if I could meet her at her Mother's house for her hair appointment. She was heading out of town for a few weeks and asked if I knew anyone who could care for her mom a few days out of the week while she was away. This lady was fabulous, brutally honest, and adorable, so I volunteered.

The job started off with normal errands. Things like grocery runs, light housekeeping, organizing etc. Then one day she was complaining about the look of her guest room and wanting to spice it up. I shared my passion for decorating with her, especially spaces that would host guests. Gave her a few tips I learned from my self taught interior design ventures and showed her photos of a few projects I'd done. She immediately offered me the job to decorate her guest room.

Initially I declined as I was no interior designer (Talk about imposter syndrome) but she insisted and I eventually gave in taking on my first official project.

The budget was small, but that didn't discourage me, I was excited to take on this challenge. As a beginner I had no vendors, trades or clue where to start. So I started with what I had, a room full of antique furniture and a $800 budget. The assignment was to create a space that was welcoming  to her guests, but modern and stylish. I decided to decorate using blues and gold, with a pop of orange. I moved around the furniture to create a better layout, upholstered and painted this set of 1970 chairs with blue velvet fabric and gold paint ( my furniture restoration skills where born here) after about 4 weeks of working, making mistakes, and endlessly sourcing the pieces I needed the room came together flawlessly.

From the towels to the fluffy pillows and 100% cotton duvet it was perfect for a house guests short stay and my client loved it.

The day I finished the project I drove home and talked my boyfriend at the time into starting an Airbnb business with me.  Airbnb had been around for a few years at the time, and I viewed it as the perfect opportunity to start designing hospitality spaces. This was it, my opportunity to combine my love for interiors and passion for the hospitality industry. We would start with his place. After researching I quickly discovered almost every Airbnb in our area was missing style. I went overboard on our space, and we booked our first guest within 2 hours of listing it on the site.

Now we decorate and design spaces all over the country for Airbnb investors, bed and breakfast owners, and many other clients. We offer a variety of services tailored to our client’s needs. Some clients need full services while others just need help selecting furniture and décor to get them 5 star ready. I love what I do! The ability to help a small business owner get their project off the ground, or hugely impact a guests first vacation in years through design is incredibly rewarding.
